Summary:

Web3FC is a chain-agnostic conference based in Barcelona. This 3rd edition will welcome 350 participants and 40+ speakers from industry leading projects. With activities will be such as Talks, Panels, Workshops & Public Debates.

Our goal is to drive awareness, understanding, and adoption of crypto technologies further into mainstream and digital-native audiences. Empower builders to create, innovate, and become long term members within the crypto ecosystem. Foster collaboration between talents and projects.

We are a very organic community, started from zero with many meetups and zero funding.
We are chain agnostic, it does not mean that anything goes. We listen to our community, which is mostly crypto-natives, this directs where we put our focus regarding projects we feature.

We are a grassroots community, that you also know as “crypto natives”.
90% of our audience is made of blockchain professionals.

  • +33% are technical profiles such as devs, engineers and researchers
  • +20% are founders
  • The rest are biz devs, marketers, angels, VC partners and more

For this 3rd edition, we already confirmed and announced 29 speakers of Ethereum Foundation, Starknet Foundation, Arbitrum Foundation, Matter Labs, Polygon Labs, Mina Protocol, Cosmos SDK (Binary Builders), Injective Labs, Nansen, Filecoin, Chainlink, NFT Price Floor, Web3 Privacy Now, DAppNode, CoinMetrics, Chronicle Labs, Dedaub, Stakin, Outlier Ventures, Revelator Labs, Decentraland, and UPC (uni research), UAB’s SeNDA (uni research) and OUC’s KISON (uni research).

In this 3rd edition, we will cover these topics: Scaling, Privacy, Bitcoin, Ethereum, L1s, L2s, ZK, Modular Chains, Adoption, Research, Governance, Onchain Analytics, and DeFi. The current line up indicates well what’s to come, we will publish the full agenda in March '24.

Web3 Family is the organisation behind the conference. We are a very organic community, started from zero with local meetups in April 2022. Since then we ran 40+ meetups and 2 conferences, making us the most active in-person crypto community in Spain. We also informally collaborate with other local meetups every now and then.

We are still in early stage, our 1st conference was only over a year ago and we are gradually scaling our events as our finances and popularity grow. We received grants and sponsorships from various organisations such as Ethereum Foundation, Secret Network, Filecoin, Cowswap, RMRK, Silo Finance and others.

How far along are you?:
We are already very far. We already booked the venue, booked many speakers, ran the marketing campaign, and much more. Everything is looking very positive.

Why did you pick this idea to work on? Do you have domain expertise in this area? How do you know people need what you’re making?:
Adrien had been running many blockchain meetups in Barcelona since 2018. Fast forward to post-covid 2022, Barcelona crypto community was rather quiet so Adrien started in-person events for the grassroots community he was himself part of.

One thing led to another, Adrien ran a 1st conference in December 2022, then another in September 2023, then this upcoming 3rd edition in April 2024.

What’s new about what you’re making? What substitutes do people resort to because it doesn’t exist yet (or they don’t know about it)?:
We are a very organic community, started from zero with many meetups and zero funding.

We are chain agnostic, it does not mean that anything goes. We listen to our community, which is mostly crypto-natives, this directs where we put our focus regarding projects we feature.

We continuously run events throughout the year.

We are independent. We are not owned, mandated by, or under the control of a third party organization.

What’s your vision for how your project will impact The Graph and/or web3?:
Our goal is to drive awareness, understanding, and adoption of crypto technologies further into mainstream and digital-native audiences. Empower builders to create, innovate, and become long term members within the crypto ecosystem. Foster collaboration between talents and projects.

We expect both The Graph and the wider web3 ecosystem to be positively impacted by our conference.

TheGraph will get exposure to and visibility in one of the most popular grassroots community in Spain. This means new devs, new users, and new backers among other things.

Web3 as a whole is already impacted by our work. With 40+ events in 2 years we’ve fostered new relationships, new collaborations, raised awarness about web3, educated many people, created a lot of video content of quality, and interacted with audiences of various genders/races/religions/countries. These are only some of the positive outcomes.

Why are you interested in contributing to The Graph and/or web3?:
The Graph is one of the most iconic project in the space. It’s had tremendous impact, has a great reputation and its values totally align with ours.

Web3 is an unavoidable technological revolution that passionate for years now. I wish to bring a healthy contribution to the ecosystem by bringing quality web3 events in the city I live. In-person events have tremendous value. They change career paths, educate, and create extremely sticky relationships.

Thank you for applying to the grants program of The Graph AdvocatesDAO.
I saw you applied before to the same event, can you explain what is different this year?

Can you clarify the required amounts you put the total funding as 3,250 USD while at the same time stating “Miscellaneous Expenses” & “Event Production” as 32,600 USD.
