Greetings!

After reading the proposal, I was interestingly surprised by some things and would like to clarify some points, with the help of some questions. Let’s get started.

I would like to start by saying that I haven’t quite found information about your partnerships. You mentioned that you have worked with different projects:

But alas, I didn’t see any news about that anywhere. They are also not represented as your partners on the website. I would like to see some proof of your work with them.

Next, this is a list of topics you plan to talk about. Have you covered both fairly basic topics and tech-orientated ones? Who do you plan to engage as a speaker to give a clear assessment and talk about these topics? If it will be someone from your team, I would like to know more about him/her, in terms of social links, portfolio, whatever.

Next, it’s the fact of the course itself. Are you planning to run it in an online format only? Or offline, if so, in what location?

KPI measurement. You mentioned these points.

I’d like to hear what you expect in terms of the number of people taking the course and joining the ecosystem.

Next, a lot of the things you mentioned in terms of creating materials and translations is already in the program. And for example, advocates can be brought in to do that, both to take a load off your shoulders and to help them with their own assignments.

And lastly, why did you choose The Graph and what value should the course add? Because the amount of funding you are requesting is quite large, and it should be worth the cost of the funds involved.

Thank you!!!

First of all, I have to disagree with the statement: “…And very important: There are 0 content about The Graph in Portuguese Language.”

Please refer to the official Graph website, and see the Docs section addressed especially to the developers, who can read it in Portuguese for quite some time already and this is all thanks to our amazing Portuguese Advocates. I know that the Brazillian and European Portuguese have distinct differences in pronunciation and vocabulary, therefore I’m interested to see if the available Portuguese version of the website solves some of the problems with the language barrier for the Brazillian Community.

Hello Juliana! Thank you for your response.

In fact, despite the variations across countries, we can easily comprehend the documentation. The advocates are also doing an excellent job in this regard. I have myself learned from the Portuguese Docs.

the phrase wasn’t well written. Let me rephrase my sentence: There is currently no video content available in Portuguese language about The Graph made for developers.

Thanks for your reply! Let’s Start!

But alas, I didn’t see any news about that anywhere. They are also not represented as your partners on the website. I would like to see some proof of your work with them.

The majority of our activities have taken place in real life (IRL). We maintain direct communication with various communities and have established a robust presence on WhatsApp. At this precise moment, we are currently hosting an event for the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) in collaboration with Polygon Network and Criptonopix. This event is scheduled for this upcoming Saturday. If needed, I can provide the complete Grant spreadsheet for your reference. You can check it at post on my personal Twitter Account: https://twitter.com/MattosdeCaio/status/1683583700855029763?s=20

Also, we host weekly meet-ups and classes in partnership with Nebula (charity work) and Polygon Network. You can check it here: https://twitter.com/nebula_web3/status/1687586425368129538?s=20
and here: https://twitter.com/nebula_web3/status/1676611289928331264?s=20 (you can see Adalberto teaching basic of computer for childrem)

Check out this cool event we did for blockchain games developers in partnership with Polygon, Transfero, Criptonopix and Gateio: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipOj3MoWdAQgeMW8lBPV8xH9NiQlkHY8BNm6TcmDn1PaZKjwRu0WlRZlV0chKx_-tg?pli=1&key=c3A5Yk83MDBwLXB2Tmw2dWh1R0ltQmNMRjlJXzFR

Here is another event we created and hosted for Flow Bloackchain (with the LATAM representing Diego Fornalha) and the biggest blockchain event in Brazil, Blockchain Festival:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CscNJJ1JwCQ/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

In Fact our Website is not updated. We are going to do a rebranding and change all the website. And after that we are going to launch our platform with free courses for developers. We have already Flow Blockchain, Polygon Network, Nym Protocol, Internet Computer (BTC integration) and others.

Certainly! It’s important to emphasize that students will have a well-defined pathway to navigate through the technology. As previously mentioned, we will commence their journey with The Graph while assuming they already possess a foundational understanding of Solidity and other programming languages. This ensures that the course is accessible to all participants.

Pedro Magalhaes (https://www.linkedin.com/in/pemagalhaes/) is a highly skilled blockchain developer deeply involved in Brazilian CBDC initiatives and blockchain-related projects. His expertise will play a pivotal role in delivering valuable insights. Another key contributor to the foundational modules is Clarice Hatischvili (https://www.linkedin.com/in/claricemha/). Having experienced a transformative journey through blockchain, she currently works with one of the country’s leading crypto companies and holds a strong passion for blockchain development.

Next, it’s the fact of the course itself. Are you planning to run it in an online format only? Or offline, if so, in what location?

Brazil’s extensive geographical expanse often poses challenges for in-person attendance at courses. Additionally, our goal is to maximize accessibility and inclusivity, which is why we’re providing online access to the course through a platform scheduled for launch in the next two months. This approach enables us to reach a broader audience and bring together as many individuals as possible.

I’d like to hear what you expect in terms of the number of people taking the course and joining the ecosystem.

We anticipate a minimum of 150 students who will complete the entire course and begin utilizing The Graph technology. It’s important to note that the course will be continuously available, offering a dynamic and ongoing learning experience. This is not a one-time event; participants will have the opportunity to engage with the course content at any time. Furthermore, we plan to offer additional hands-on courses for those who are particularly engaged and seek further enrichment in their learning journey.

Next, a lot of the things you mentioned in terms of creating materials and translations is already in the program. And for example, advocates can be brought in to do that, both to take a load off your shoulders and to help them with their own assignments.

You are right! @juliannaMLN mentioned about the Portuguese translated Docs, that for shore will be used, every help will be very welcome!

And lastly, why did you choose The Graph and what value should the course add? Because the amount of funding you are requesting is quite large, and it should be worth the cost of the funds involved.

We chose The Graph because of its pivotal role in revolutionizing decentralized data indexing and querying within the web3 ecosystem. Some of our teachers have already used the tech before. our goal is to empower developers to confidently and effectively use The Graph, thereby contributing to its growth, adoption, and impact within the web3 ecosystem.

The requested funding should not deter us from educating the Brazilian community about The Graph. We can reduce marketing expenses, repurpose video content from other ongoing courses, and minimize contingency costs. Our objective is to establish a robust, long-term relationship with The Graph.

If it would be more convenient for you, we could schedule a call to provide you with additional information about myself, our team, and our operations based in Rio de Janeiro.

Thank you!!!

Hello @Caiomap,

First and foremost, I’d like to express my excitement for the level of detail and thoroughness reflected in your proposal. We love to see it!

The showcasing of past projects and events, combined with clear and comprehensive manner in which you addressed questions from both @doxe01.eth and @juliannaMLN, give me a good impression of your team’s capabilities. Additionally, thank you for introducing us to Pedro and Clarice.

I’m looking forward to joining the upcoming public presentation, and I’ve sent you an email to coordinate the scheduling. I think it will be a great opportunity to delve deeper into this proposal and align our visions. In preparation for our call, I’d like to share some specific points I’m keen to explore. You can either address these here beforehand or we can deep dive during the call:

  1. Could you elaborate on the structure of the course, detailing how you plan to balance theoretical instruction with hands-on practical exercises?
  2. While the online platform makes the course accessible, are there any considerations for fostering community interaction and peer learning?
  3. How do you envision tracking the progress and success of students? Are there metrics or milestones you’ll be using?

While our immediate focus remains on the Portuguese course, I see an opportunity for expansion into other languages. The Graph’s diverse user base could greatly benefit from having the course in multiple languages. There are currently courses in other languages, but I do not think there are as extensive as this one. While I understand the challenges associated with this, I wonder if you have any thoughts on collaborating with Graph Advocates for translation and adaptation.

To reiterate, I’m not suggesting an immediate shift in focus but rather looking for potential avenues to amplify the course’s impact.

Once again, thank you for your dedication and hard work. Looking forward to seeing you at the public presentation soon!

It’s worth highlighting that we have several other courses in the blockchain domain, including some focusing on soft skills. With this in mind, we recognize that these courses will mutually enhance and complement one another.

2. While the online platform makes the course accessible, are there any considerations for fostering community interaction and peer learning?

We prioritizes community interaction and peer learning alongside its accessible online platform. We facilitate this through peer review, networking events, mentorship opportunities, and course events/webinars. This approach ensures participants engage, collaborate, and collectively enhance their understanding and skills in The Graph and web3 development.

3. How do you envision tracking the progress and success of students? Are there metrics or milestones you’ll be using?

Our strategy for tracking student progress and success encompasses metrics such as enrollment and completion rates, participant feedback, certification rate, project submissions, community engagement, application adoption, post-course interactions, and more. These metrics collectively gauge the course’s effectiveness, participant engagement, and real-world impact. Regular assessment against learning objectives ensures alignment with course goals, while partnerships and recognition validate the course’s quality and value. This comprehensive approach ensures that the course remains impactful, relevant, and beneficial to participants and the broader web3 ecosystem.

There are currently courses in other languages, but I do not think there are as extensive as this one. While I understand the challenges associated with this, I wonder if you have any thoughts on collaborating with Graph Advocates for translation and adaptation.

Excellent suggestion. There are numerous potential avenues for collaboration in this regard. One promising approach could involve recreating the entire course in English to reach a wider audience, then partnering with Advocates to facilitate translations into various languages. Another approach is to directly translate the content into other languages while keeping the base language in Portuguese. This method would eliminate the need to reapply for grants specifically for this purpose. I’m eager to hear your thoughts on this proposed approach.

I’m genuinely excited about the presentation. Thank you once again for the chance to showcase our work. I assure you that my team and I are fully committed to giving our utmost effort.

Hello,

I’m very much hoping I can join your presentation in the Discord Server because this is a very interesting proposal. But just in case I can’t, my only question about this application currently is if it would be possible to add Substreams to the course content. It’s a major part of The Graph’s future and a key feature that will likely be of interest to developers.

Thanks a ton for such a detailed application and for your thorough responses to all the questions posted.

That’s fantastic! I hope everyone attends!

Hello, @Mr.1776!

Thanks for your reply.

That’s an excellent idea. Although Substreams entail a certain level of complexity, I believe it’s highly important for developers to stay up-to-date with everything related to The Graph Technology. We will be incorporating a comprehensive module on Substreams into our curriculum. It’ll take just a couple of days for the team to prepare the best approach.

Thank you very much for your excellent suggestion.

Allow me to clarify some points, guys: Latin America is indeed quite extensive, and the largest country within it is Brazil, which is the sole Portuguese-speaking nation in the region. Most of the Latin American hubs primarily communicate in Spanish, which means that much of their content may not be accessible to Brazilians.

Brazil stands out as one of the countries with the highest adoption of cryptocurrencies. It ranks second in NFT transactions and is among the top 5 in the DeFi space. Surprisingly, there are currently no advocates representing The Graph in Brazil. This gap exists largely due to the minimal presence of The Graph within the country.

Moreover, I am planning to nominate myself for the Advocate Program with the aim of boosting awareness about The Graph in Brazil. We possess a highly engaged and dynamic community here! :)) @Mr.1776 @juliannaMLN @Colson

The majority decision of the Grant Committee concludes to not recommend this proposal for DAO funding. Please recognize that this is not a statement on the proposal itself, but rather an aggregated reflection by committee members taking into account a number of factors, such as alignment to The Graph and web3 ecosystem, budget available to support grants and prioritization relative to other proposed grants.

Below you find brief feedback brought up within the committee to not recommend DAO funding that may help you to submit successful grant applications in the future:

We are glad to see such initiative proposals, which are aimed at the development of potential local groups and communities in the relevant country. The proposal as it stands is a bit overstated in the field of having too many resources and also the lack of knowledge of the community and their attitudes towards it all.

It is recommended to work on small strategies that will be aimed at clearing the ground for future big events that will be aimed towards the development of the protocol.

Thank you for submitting this proposal, and you are encouraged to stay engaged in the Graph community. You are also welcome to submit new grant applications in the future with proposals that may generate stronger support from the committee.

Sincerely,
Graph AdvocatesDAO
