How far along are you?:

Why did you pick this idea to work on? Do you have domain expertise in this area? How do you know people need what you’re making?:
We decided to pursue this idea based on the resounding success of ETH Mexico, an event organized by ETH Global.
Furthermore, there’s a palpable enthusiasm within the community for a large-scale event like Ethereum México 2023. We’ve been receiving numerous inquiries from individuals and communities, expressing a genuine interest and demand for such gatherings. The presence of Devcon in LATAM has only heightened this anticipation. It’s clear that people are not only ready but eagerly waiting to come together, connect, and celebrate in Mexico City this year.

What’s new about what you’re making? What substitutes do people resort to because it doesn’t exist yet (or they don’t know about it)?:
Our project is breaking new ground as the largest locally organized event of its kind, eliminating the need for people to travel abroad for such experiences. This unique approach fills a gap in the market where individuals often resort to international events.

Additionally, we’re introducing the “Road to Ethereum México,” a series of in-person events that serve to establish connections with local communities across Mexico. This initiative not only aims to decentralize activities from Mexico City but also our own organization. We believe it’s crucial to foster local community growth and facilitate interactions with various stakeholders.

What’s your vision for how your project will impact The Graph and/or web3?:

Our vision for this project is to leverage the rich pool of talented developers in Mexico to significantly impact The Graph and the broader web3 ecosystem. We see Mexico as an ideal platform for The Graph to showcase its project, tap into local talent, and establish a strong community presence. This not only opens up opportunities for talent acquisition but also fosters connections with existing and emerging developer communities in the region, contributing to the growth and adoption of web3 technologies.

How will you measure success?:

  1. Engagement at The Graph booth:

Minimum: 30-49 meaningful conversations about The Graph.
Expected: 50-99 meaningful conversations about The Graph.
Exceeded: +100 meaningful conversations about The Graph.
Source: Tracking of POAP received by individuals after engaging with The Graph.

  1. Attendance at The Graph workshop:

Minimum: 15-29 attendees at The Graph workshop.
Expected: 30-39 attendees at The Graph workshop.
Exceeded: +40 attendees at The Graph workshop.
Source: POAP to participants after they complete The Graph workshop.

  1. Streaming views during The Graph talk:

Minimum: 700-999 views/streams during the talk.
Expected: 1,000-2,999 views/streams during the talk.
Exceeded: +3,000 views/streams during the talk.
Source: View counts will be monitored on our YouTube channel.

  1. Attendance at in-person (IRL) event about The Graph:

Minimum: 15-29 attendees at IRL events.
Expected: 30-49 attendees at IRL events.
Exceeded: +50 attendees at IRL events.
Source: Attendance data will be collected and verified through the issuance of POAP to event attendees.

These metrics will provide a comprehensive assessment of our project’s impact, engagement, and reach within the community, ensuring that we meet or exceed our goals related to The Graph’s promotion and education.

What milestones will you achieve in the coming weeks/months, with or without the grant?:
In the coming weeks and months, we have several significant milestones planned, and our progress will continue with or without the grant. These milestones include:

  1. Road to Ethereum México 2023:

Organizing 12 events in 9 cities across Mexico.
Establishing a robust network of local partner communities throughout the country.

  1. Ethereum México 2023:

Hosting a full day of Talks, Workshops, Artist and Community Showcases, with participation from 800 attendees in person and an additional online streaming audience.
Establishing a Legal Entity for Ethereum México Community:

  1. Formalizing the Ethereum México Community through the creation of a legal entity, ensuring long-term sustainability and compliance.

  2. And more surprises…

These milestones collectively demonstrate our commitment to fostering blockchain and Ethereum development in Mexico and establishing a strong, sustainable presence within the local and global blockchain communities. While we are seeking grant support, our dedication to these goals remains unwavering.

If yes, please describe where you’ve received funding from and how much you have, or will, receive:
Yes, we have secured some funding from RetroPGF 2, which is contributing to cover half of the venue expenses for Ethereum México 2023. Additionally, we are actively engaged in negotiations with other Ethereum-aligned sponsors to further support our event financially.

Can you share any information about current/past web3 experience?:
2022

Conducted ten virtual classes with over 60 attendees each.
Organized three meetups with 30+ attendees and five workshops totaling 250+ participants.
Held ten Twitter Spaces sessions, each with over 60 live attendees and 100+ listeners.
Hosted two major events in Mexico City, each with 100+ participants.
Volunteered at events including ETHBogotá, ETHLatam, and Devcon.
Spoke at ETHLatam and contributed to Devcon as volunteers, notetakers, and MCs.
Ran two additional Twitter Spaces with 80+ live participants and 100+ listeners.

2023

Conducted an event in Mexico City with 50+ attendees.
Held workshops in various cities (Puebla, Mérida, Guadalajara and Monterrey), reaching over 150 attendees, emphasizing self-custodial and security and collaborating with local communities.

Why are you interested in contributing to The Graph and/or web3?:
We view The Graph as a highly valuable partner for Ethereum Builders in our region. With a growing number of individuals transitioning into developers, understanding The Graph’s capabilities can significantly enhance their efficiency. The Graph aligns closely with the Ethereum ecosystem, and we’ve closely observed your impactful work. The Grant makes your team a Grantee in case it's passed and granted, how does it make The Graph an Official Sponsor?

Due to the complexities associated with large-scale sponsorships for conferences and hackathons, members of the Graph AdvocatesDAO have established a new team - The Events Team.
